Jaipur's flagship BRTS, funded substantially by JNNURM, never delivered the 300 buses promised and built only two corridors: Sikar Road, chaotically designed with 11 junctions packed into 8km, and New Sanganer Road, which was "not operational at all." It recorded the lowest ridership of any Indian BRTS city, its median dedicated-lane design proved fatal for pedestrians, and its barricades were eventually ordered dismantled across the city.
The official record states: "A JDA official admitted "Jaipur never got to even taste BRTS...it never really took off"; the JCTSL managing director said he had "no data" on corridor usage."
