On record
Built by Kolkata-based Simplex and opened in 2009, this 1.65 km flyover developed an expansion-joint problem at pillar no. 2 in 2023 (₹2 crore repair) and then cracks in pillar no. 4 in late 2024, with engineers concluding "the pillar had failed." Assam PWD had to install temporary load-distribution supports and called in IIT-Guwahati and RITES to test the structure's design, construction and concrete quality more than a decade after its defect-liability period had lapsed.
The official record states: "A senior PWD engineer said RITES was "entrusted with post-construction testing" to examine "design, construction, and composition of the concrete used"; findings were pending as of early 2025."
