Residents expressed concern that new pumping arrangements to prevent monsoon flooding were only a short-term fix rather than a permanent storm-water drainage solution.
The official record states: "GCC Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran attributed the eventual progress to coordination between GCC and Chennai Metro Rail Limited; no official reason was given for the extended 32-month closure itself."
