An August 2024 AMC bridge-audit inspection found cracks in the walls of this heavily used underpass, one of dozens of structures citywide flagged as defective. Weeks later, after about 3.5 inches of rain fell in 24 hours, the underpass flooded and trapped a 25-passenger inter-city bus overnight, requiring rescuers to pull passengers out through the windows using ropes.
The official record states: "Not specified: AMC's own inspection report cited only "cracks...in the walls of Parimal Underpass" without a stated cause."
