On record
A span of an under-construction bridge over the Koshi river, built under the central Bharatmala project, collapsed while workers were setting it onto girders on March 22, 2024, killing one worker and injuring ten others. A central three-member team was deputed to investigate.
The official record states: "Officials attributed it to "a technical fault" during the girder-setting process; district authorities paid ₹10 lakh compensation to the deceased's family and ₹1 lakh each to the injured pending the formal inquiry findings."
