On record

A road built at a cost of ₹104 crore in Sidhi district was largely washed away by the very first heavy rainfall spell just six months after construction, with a major section of the Khaira-Dithoura route swept out by strong water flow and the Bhawarsen Pahad route blocked by falling soil and rocks.

The official record states: "Tehsildar Ashish Mishra said the road "reportedly did not have proper drains for water discharge," so rainwater flowed straight over the surface instead of being drained away."

“A hundred and four crore of road, six months old, removed by its first serious rain.”— Blunderlust Editorial Desk
