On June 29, 2024, a canopy at the passenger pick-up area of Rajkot's newly built Hirasar airport collapsed during heavy monsoon rain while maintenance crews cleared accumulated water, the third such canopy collapse at a new Indian airport terminal in as many days.
The official record states: "Officials said the canopy came down "while maintenance work was being undertaken to remove accumulated water.""
