The Central Railway formally wrote to PCMC demanding demolition of these two of the city's oldest flyovers, stating their structural "life expectancy has expired" and that they remain unsafe despite PCMC spending three years on reinforcement work on the Indira Gandhi flyover.
The official record states: "Railway Department letters stated "the life expectancy of both flyovers has expired" and the structures remain unsafe despite repairs; PCMC said it would discuss demolition versus repair with its Commissioner."
