On January 11, 2025, the ceiling slab/lintel of a two-storey building under construction as part of the station's Amrit Bharat Station Scheme redevelopment caved in, trapping around 40 workers. Roughly 28 people were rescued, with several hospitalized and some transferred to Lucknow for serious injuries; the iron shuttering had reportedly been laid only the day before it gave way.
The official record states: "The district administration attributed the incident to the under-construction shuttering/lintel of the roof caving in during ongoing renovation work; Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw ordered a probe into the collapse."
