A citywide network of dedicated cycle tracks built across major Hyderabad corridors has failed to gain adoption, with 15 cyclist accidents reported on the service-road cycle track in 2024 alone. Hyderabad's Bicycle Mayor said many tracks are blocked by vendors and parked vehicles, and sections suffer poor visibility, deterring especially parents from letting children use them.
The official record states: "An HMDA official blamed driver behaviour rather than infrastructure design, saying "it's common knowledge not to drive fast on highways or any roads, yet people do it," and said crash barriers would be installed on some segments."
