Dharamsala Smart City E-Toilets: Locked and Unused for Years — photo 1

On record

E-toilets installed near Martyrs Park in 2015 were later shifted to Gandhi Park but never received a permanent power connection at the new site. After a woman became trapped inside one and had to be rescued with iron rods, the toilets were locked and left unused for roughly three years with no maintenance from the Municipal Corporation.

The official record states: "Not specified: the Municipal Commissioner was unavailable for comment; a former mayor said maintaining the toilets "is the duty of the Municipal Corporation, which were built using public funds.""

“Smart toilets moved to a park with no power, then locked after a woman had to be freed from one with iron rods.”— Blunderlust Editorial Desk

Dharamshala Smart City Drainage

Despite hundreds of crores spent rebuilding roads/drains under the Smart City Mission, Dharamshala's new covered drainage is too narrow, incorrectly sloped and cable-obstructed, causing uncontrolled rainwater flow every monsoon, replacing older open drains that handled both drainage and irrigation.
